So yeah — I live 15 minutes from Walt Disney World. Here's how I can help you actually enjoy the place.

I'm Billy — a 40-year Disney veteran who just moved to Orlando, about 15 minutes from the parks, with a Walt Disney World Annual Pass and zero plans to slow down. What used to be a once-every-couple-years trip is now part of my everyday life, and I'm sharing all of it here: park days, food finds, tips, and the small stuff you only notice once you live down the road.

Start with my first two weeks as a Disney local ↓ — or grab a few quick tips below, and let's talk about your trip.

A few things I've learned the hard way — 40 years and an annual pass will teach you:

  • You don't need park-to-park tickets every day. Most first-timers buy more ticket than they use. One park per day is plenty for a first trip; save the hopper money for a nice dinner.

  • The dining reservation window is 60 days out, at 6:00 a.m. Eastern. The hard-to-get tables (Be Our Guest, Cinderella's Royal Table, Space 220) are gone in minutes. Set a reminder, or — shameless plug — let someone who does this for a living handle it for you.

  • Midday is for swimming, not for lines. The parks are hottest, crankiest, and most crowded from about 1–4 p.m. Hotel pool, long lunch, or an air-conditioned show. Your family will thank you. The lines will still be there at 6.

  • You don't have to do open-to-close. I used to. It's not a badge of honor, it's a recipe for a meltdown — yours or your kid's. The best Disney trips have a little nothing baked in.

  • Lightning Lanes aren't a scam, but they're not always worth it either. Depends on the park, the day, and the ride. I'll write a whole post on this — but the short version is: don't buy it blind, and don't let anyone tell you it's one-size-fits-all.

Want to do Disney without the 6 a.m. alarms, the spreadsheet, and the group-chat meltdowns?

That's literally what I do. I'm Billy — an Orlando local, 40-year Disney veteran, and a travel advisor who plans Disney trips for people who'd rather enjoy their vacation than manage it. Resort picks, park-day strategy, dining reservations, Lightning Lane timing — handled, at no extra cost to you (the hotels and providers pay me, not you). One phone call or email and you're done. You handle the packing.
